El Primo Sanchez
Sydney
A colourful Mexican-inspired bar where a good time is guaranteed.
Housed in a historic 1940's pub, El Primo Sanchez is all about grown-up fun. The cocktails are excellent (poured by Australian’s Bartender of the Year, Eduardo Conde) and the Mexican fare is full of flavour - no sugary, Westernized sauces here. There’s also a karaoke room with a button you can press for tequila and at night the ceiling flickers with neon-rainbow lights like the ones from your old school disco. All this good fun without a sombrero in site? ¡Ole!
Why we love it
The vibe: Vibrant without being kitsch, decked out in earthy ceramics and vintage film posters donated by a Sydney collector who has been visiting Mexico for decades
The food: Bright, fresh Mexican dishes
The drink: Surprising, inventive and delicious, with one cocktail even made with tortillas
