Proving that just because ‘business’ is listed as your reason for travel, it doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun.

While Mama Shelter defined its signature playful style long ago – bright pops of colour, mismatched furniture, and cartoon masks – it still gives each destination its own individual character by taking design inspiration from the neighbouring area. Looking to the nearby skyscrapers for inspiration - this is Paris’ business district, after all - the hotel has ‘outer space’ as its theme. A long escalator decorated with neon planets and rockets transports you up to the lobby, where the usual mishmash of bespoke furniture sits with Mama Shelter’s signature black ceiling covered in chalk graffiti by French artist Beniloys. Upstairs, the terrace is bright and breezy with pink cushioned outdoor furniture and clashing cushions, while inside the restaurant there are wood moon-shaped tables and earthy prints.

In addition to the restaurant Mama’s Penthouse, which comes with a bar, a menu devised by chef Pierre Chomet, and a terrace, there is also a retro American diner, serving up burgers and milkshakes. If that wasn’t serotonin-inducing enough, it also has repeats of Happy Days playing on the screens.
