What is futurism? That’s what 25hours Hotel Cologne sets out to answer. Situated in a spectacular Brutalist rotunda at the heart of the city - think James Bond villain lair crossed with Fritz Lang’s Metropolis – the listed landmark once belonged to an insurance company, the Gerling Group. Now, this dystopian design has been reimagined as a futurist utopia.
Led by Berlin-based Werner Aisslinger, the round (of course) lobby is reconfigured into a café and co-working space. Upstairs, 207 rooms delve into the concept of retro vs. future, so you can either sink into indulgent nostalgia or zoom right into the next millennium, depending on your state of mind. Here, time is a mutable idea as you work, play, and relax at the spa inspired by countryside utopias yet to come.
