A veritable piece of history, 21c Lexington is housed in the city’s original skyscraper, with the area’s first lift to boot. Originally the headquarters for Fayette National Bank, the building was designed by renowned architects McKim, Mead and White in 1914. As befits a skyscraper, high ceilings and large period windows define each of the 88 rooms.
Enter this towering museum-hotel hybrid from the incredibly ornate lobby, and try to stop yourself getting distracted by the variety of art on offer – after all, there’s more than 7,000 square feet of exhibition space to view. Pick up something at the carefully curated gift shop for design-minded friends or head to Lockbox, one of the best dining spots in town.
